| Sailing! |

I've been talking about buying an old sail boat for years. The problem had been that I didn't know how to sail, ha, and I've never taken any real steps to learn how.
That all changed about a month ago when Laurie and I joined the Milwaukee Yacht Club! Our friends Dan and Cathy had been members for about a year so we have been familiar with the club, and this spring we finally joined.
Being a member has some nice benefits but for Laurie and I, use of 6 eighteen foot Ideal sailboats and the boathouse pool/spa sealed the deal.
Days after a crazy morning sailing lesson from Dan, Laurie and I had our first sail on an Ideal! Since then I've taken Ideals out several times by myself with Franky.
This past weekend Laurie and I went on an overnight sailing trip to Port Washington with Dan and Cathy on their 27' sailboat! We had a great time and did some fun sailing in some really windy conditions. It was a blast! |

| Yet another revamped website. |
I just revamped www.maxhat.com this past week in order to get it ready for our first email-blast aimed at distributors. I started about a week ago and just finished after an all-nighter last night.
The website has pages meant for public consumption and sperate pages for distributors. Going to maxhat.com will treat you like an end user. Going to one of our distributor pages automatically puts a cookie on your computer and tags you as a distributor. Being tagged as a distributor keeps the distributor pages menu accessible on the left side.
Here is a link to the current distributor home page. By clicking on the link you will have access to the pages meant for distributors. Don't worry, there isn't any sensitive info on the distributor pages.
I designed the site and pages with CorelDraw in 3-4 days and built it in the last couple days. Meaning it's not focus group tested:) Let me know if you have any suggestions. |

| "Potatoe" or "57 States"? |
One of the many, many gaffes Obama has made is to state, with all seriousness, that he had been in only 57 states because his campaign staff wouldn't allow him to visit Alaska & Hawaii.
Is it just me or isn't knowing how many States are in America something that a person running for national office should know off the top of his head at any moment?
Obviously Obama is getting a pass for this and his other gaffes.
One thing is for sure, if a Republican had said this, his candidacy would be over. The news media would harp and harp and harp on it until the candidate would be the laughing stock of the entire country.
If you don't believe me, just remember when Dan Quayle spelled potato, "potatoe", and what a big deal that was.
The video below is just his statement. I tried to find one where a TV comedian, like John Stewart, showed the clip and then made a joke about it. Not surprisingly, I couldn't find one.

| Do celebs help Republicans get elected? |
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that since hollywood celebrities started threatening to leave the country if the Republican is elected president, the Republican has always won?
Could it be that celebrities really want Republicans to win and that is why they taunt us with promises they never keep?
The reason I bring this up is because I just read this story about Susan Sarandon. She says that if McCain wins she will move to Italy or Canada! IS SHE TRYING TO UNITE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY? For McCains sake, let's hope as many celebrities say this same thing as did when Bush was running for re-election.
Now, of course she is a liberal and none of us believe her, but we can hope can't we? If Obama supporters can be so disillusioned with false hopes, can't Conservatives too?
Alec Baldwin, Brad Pitt, George Cloony, Sean Penn, there is still time! You too can threaten to leave the country if McCain is elected! Now, we know that you will probably have to fly more often if you were to move, and we know that would go against your convictions about Global Warming, but we also know that you are all hypocrites on the issue anyway, so don't let that stop you!
Now how about some A list celebs, otherwise it's just insulting. |

| Scott McClellan is a bitter frat boy |
Former Bush Administration press secretary Scott McClellan is coming out with a book which is highly critical of the Bush administration. You can read a story about it here.
Some or many thoughts he has written might or might not be accurate. I just don't understand how someone who had been working with the Bush family and administrations can come out with a book so critical of the people he worked closely with. As I read excerpts of some of the things he wrote I noticed something. I noticed that some of the negative traits he noted are traits that I have seen in myself and people around me. Many people in my personal and professional life that I highly respect have areas that could be improved. I just can't imagine ever writing about these people and publicly raking them over the coals for the goal of money or critical acclaim. I think it takes a special type of person to do this.
Unfortunately many of McClellan's claims are not made from having inside knowledge but instead by putting events together and assuming he knew what was being said in that private conversation that didn't include him or by seeing a tear in the presidents eye and assuming he knew what the president was thinking.
I can see how many of the other opinions stated in the book might be true. But for me, some of the things he thought were negative I consider positive and some of the other things are simple character flaws that we all have. I'm not making excuses for the President like liberals did for Clinton. Believe me, if Bush ever shows he has the morals of a dog and has an affair with an intern around the same age as his daughters, he'd be on the same level as our previous president. I really don't mean to kick dogs while their down...Sorry Bill. |
